Timo der Weduwen is a senior leader with more than 35 years of international experience in crisis management, organisational leadership, and strategic training. A former Police Commissioner and Managing Director of the Netherlands Police Academy, he has led teams in complex environments across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, from national police units to United Nations missions and international security operations.
Timo has held senior roles in the Netherlands, Ukraine, North Macedonia, Somalia, Israel/Palestine, and the wider MENA region. As Chief of Training for the UN Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS), he led global learning programmes in security leadership and crisis response. A certified UK hostage negotiator and experienced mentor, Timo has supported professionals across the globe in developing clear thinking, adaptive leadership, and ethical decision-making under pressure.
With a foundational degree in education and a lifelong commitment to adult learning, Timo combines operational acumen with the ability to create dynamic, high-impact learning experiences. As Co-Programme Director of LAP™, he empowers leaders to unlock their potential through reflection, resilience, and responsible action.
